تأمّل عميق بلغةٍ واضحة على هذه الآية. اقرأ الأصحاح
وَاللهُ الْقَدِيرُ يُعْطِيكُمْ رَحْمَةً أَمَامَ الرَّجُلِ حَتَّى يُطْلِقَ لَكُمْ أَخَاكُمُ الآخَرَ وَبَنْيَامِينَ. وَأَنَا إِذَا عَدِمْتُ الأَوْلاَدَ عَدِمْتُهُمْ».

This verse may be literally translated thus: - "And God, the all-sufficient, shall give you tender mercies before the man, and send to you your other brother, and Benjamin; and I, as I shall be childless, so I shall be childless." That is, I will submit to this privation, till God shall restore my children. It appears that this verse is spoken prophetically; and that God at this time gave Jacob a supernatural evidence that his children should be restored.

For this mode of expression, cf. Est 4:16 and Kg2 7:4. שׁכּלתּי with the pausal a, answering to the feelings of the speaker, which is frequently used for o; e.g., טרף for יטרף, Gen 49:27.

Their pleasant meeting with Joseph in Egypt (Gen 43:15, etc.). For on this occasion nothing occurs there but what is agreeable and pleasant.

وَلَمَّا لَمْ يُقْنَعْ سَكَتْنَا قَائِلِينَ:«لِتَكُنْ مَشِيئَةُ الرَّبِّ».
فَدَعَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ اسْمَ ذلِكَ الْمَوْضِعِ «يَهْوَهْ يِرْأَهْ». حَتَّى إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ الْيَوْمَ: «فِي جَبَلِ الرَّبِّ يُرَى».
إِذَا أَرْضَتِ الرَّبَّ طُرُقُ إِنْسَانٍ، جَعَلَ أَعْدَاءَهُ أَيْضًا يُسَالِمُونَهُ.
يَا سَيِّدُ، لِتَكُنْ أُذْنُكَ مُصْغِيَةً إِلَى صَلاَةِ عَبْدِكَ وَصَلاَةِ عَبِيدِكَ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ مَخَافَةَ اسْمِكَ. وَأَعْطِ النَّجَاحَ الْيَوْمَ لِعَبْدِكَ وَامْنَحْهُ رَحْمَةً أَمَامَ هذَا الرَّجُلِ». لأَنِّي كُنْتُ سَاقِيًا لِلْمَلِكِ.
لِتَأْتِنِي رَحْمَتُكَ يَا رَبُّ، خَلاَصُكَ حَسَبَ قَوْلِكَ،
وَقَالَ لَهُ اللهُ: «أَنَا اللهُ الْقَدِيرُ. أَثْمِرْ وَاكْثُرْ. أُمَّةٌ وَجَمَاعَةُ أُمَمٍ تَكُونُ مِنْكَ، وَمُلُوكٌ سَيَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ صُلْبِكَ.
تَرَنَّمِي أَيَّتُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ، وَابْتَهِجِي أَيَّتُهَا الأَرْضُ. لِتُشِدِ الْجِبَالُ بِالتَّرَنُّمِ، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ عَزَّى شَعْبَهُ، وَعَلَى بَائِسِيهِ يَتَرَحَّمُ.
