А слуга Божого чоловіка встав рано і вийшов, аж ось ві́йсько ото́чує місто, і коні, і колесни́ці! І сказав його слуга до нього: „Ох, пане мій, що́ бу́демо робити?“

When Elisha's servant went out the next morning and saw the army, which had surrounded the town in the night, he said to the prophet, "Alas, my lord, how shall we do?" But Elisha quieted him, saying, "Fear not, for those with us are more than those with them." He then prayed that the Lord might open his servant's eyes, whereupon he saw the mountain upon which Dothan stood full of fiery horses and chariots round about Elisha. Opening the eyes was translation into the ecstatic state of clairvoyance, in which an insight into the invisible spirit-world was granted him. The fiery horses and chariots were symbols of the protecting powers of Heaven, which surrounded the prophet. The fiery form indicated the super-terrestrial origin of this host. Fire, as the most ethereal of all earthly elements, was the most appropriate substratum for making the spirit-world visible. The sight was based upon Jacob's vision (Gen 32:2), in which he saw a double army of angels encamped around him, at the time when he was threatened with danger from Esau.
Відкрити джерело ↗In this chapter we have, I. A further account of the wondrous works of Elisha. 1. His making iron to swim (Kg2 6:1-7). 2. His disclosing to the king of Israel the secret counsels of the king of Syria (Kg2 6:8-12). 3. His saving himself out of the hands of those who were sent to apprehend him (Kg2 6:13-23). II. The besieging of Samaria by the Syrians and the great distress the city was reduced to (Kg2 6:24-33). The relief of it is another of the wonders wrought by Elisha's word, which we shall have the story of in the next chapter. Elisha is still a great blessing both to church and state, both to the sons of the prophets and to his prince.

І сказав Ґеха́зі, слуга Єлисея, чоловіка Божого: „Ось мій пан стримав цього сирі́янина Наамана, щоб нічого не взяти з руки його, що він приніс. „Як живий Господь, — побіжу́ за ним і візьму́ щось від нього!“
Тож Нааманова прока́за нехай прилі́питься до тебе та до насіння твого навіки!“ І той вийшов від нього прокаже́ний, побілівши, як сніг!
І сталося, коли один вали́в дереви́ну, то впала сокира до води. А той скрикнув і сказав: „Ох, пане мій, таж вона пози́чена!“
І сказав Йосафа́т: „Чи нема тут Господнього пророка, щоб через нього вивідати слово Господа?“ І відповів один із слуг Ізраїлевого царя й сказав: „Тут є Єлисей, Шафатів син, що служив Іллі“.
