وَلَمَّا أَخَذَ السِّفْرَ خَرَّتِ الأَرْبَعَةُ الْحَيَوَانَاتُ وَالأَرْبَعَةُ وَالْعِشْرُونَ شَيْخًا أَمَامَ الْخَروفِ، وَلَهُمْ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ قِيثَارَاتٌ وَجَامَاتٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مَمْلُوَّةٌ بَخُورًا هِيَ صَلَوَاتُ الْقِدِّيسِينَ.

had taken--Greek, "took." fell down before the Lamb--who shares worship and the throne with the Father. harps--Two oldest manuscripts, A, B, Syriac and Coptic read, "a harp": a kind of guitar, played with the hand or a quill. vials--"bowls" [TREGELLES]; censers. odours--Greek, "incense." prayers of saints--as the angel offers their prayers (Rev 8:3) with incense (compare Psa 141:2). This gives not the least sanction to Rome's dogma of our praying to saints. Though they be employed by God in some way unknown to us to present our prayers (nothing is said of their interceding for us), yet we are told to pray only to Him (Rev 19:10; Rev 22:8-9). Their own employment is praise (whence they all have harps): ours is prayer.
افتح المصدر ↗In the foregoing chapter the prophetical scene was opened, in the sight and hearing of the apostle, and he had a sight of God the Creator and ruler of the world, and the great King of the church. He saw God on the throne of glory and government, surrounded with his holy ones, and receiving their adorations. Now the counsels and decrees of God are set before the apostle, as in a book, which God held in his right hand; and this book is represented, I. As sealed in the hand of God (Rev 5:1-9). II. As taken into the hand of Christ the Redeemer, to be unsealed and opened (Rev 5:6 to the end).

لِتَسْتَقِمْ صَلاَتِي كَالْبَخُورِ قُدَّامَكَ. لِيَكُنْ رَفْعُ يَدَيَّ كَذَبِيحَةٍ مَسَائِيَّةٍ.
يَخِرُّ الأَرْبَعَةُ وَالْعِشْرُونَ شَيْخًا قُدَّامَ الْجَالِسِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ، وَيَسْجُدُونَ لِلْحَيِّ إِلَى أَبَدِ الآبِدِينَ، وَيَطْرَحُونَ أَكَالِيلَهُمْ أَمَامَ الْعَرْشِ قَائِلِينَ:
وَكَانَتِ الْحَيَوَانَاتُ الأَرْبَعَةُ تَقُولُ:«آمِينَ». وَالشُّيُوخُ الأَرْبَعَةُ وَالْعِشْرُونَ خَرُّوا وَسَجَدُوا لِلْحَيِّ إِلَى أَبَدِ الآبِدِينَ.
احْمَدُوا الرَّبَّ بِالْعُودِ. بِرَبَابَةٍ ذَاتِ عَشَرَةِ أَوْتَارٍ رَنِّمُوا لَهُ.
وَحَوْلَ الْعَرْشِ أَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ عَرْشًا. وَرَأَيْتُ عَلَى الْعُرُوشِ أَرْبَعَةً وَعِشْرِينَ شَيْخًا جَالِسِينَ مُتَسَرْبِلِينَ بِثِيَابٍ بِيضٍ، وَعَلَى رُؤُوسِهِمْ أَكَالِيلُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ.
وَالأَرْبَعَةُ الْحَيَوَانَاتُ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهَا سِتَّةُ أَجْنِحَةٍ حَوْلَهَا، وَمِنْ دَاخِل مَمْلُوَّةٌ عُيُونًا، وَلاَ تَزَالُ نَهَارًا وَلَيْلاً قَائِلَةً:«قُدُّوسٌ، قُدُّوسٌ، قُدُّوسٌ، الرَّبُّ الإِلهُ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، الَّذِي كَانَ وَالْكَائِنُ وَالَّذِي يَأْتِي».
وَخَرَّ الأَرْبَعَةُ وَالْعِشْرُونَ شَيْخًا وَالأَرْبَعَةُ الْحَيَوَانَاتِ وَسَجَدُوا ِللهِ الْجَالِسِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ قَائِلِينَ:«آمِينَ! هَلِّلُويَا!».
لِكَيْ يُكْرِمَ الْجَمِيعُ الابْنَ كَمَا يُكْرِمُونَ الآبَ. مَنْ لاَ يُكْرِمُ الابْنَ لاَ يُكْرِمُ الآبَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَهُ.
وَوَاحِدٌ مِنَ الأَرْبَعَةِ الْحَيَوَانَاتِ أَعْطَى السَّبْعَةَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ سَبْعَةَ جَامَاتٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، مَمْلُوَّةٍ مِنْ غَضَبِ اللهِ الْحَيِّ إِلَى أَبَدِ الآبِدِينَ.
وَرَأَيْتُ فَإِذَا فِي وَسَطِ الْعَرْشِ وَالْحَيَوَانَاتِ الأَرْبَعَةِ وَفِي وَسَطِ الشُّيُوخِ خَرُوفٌ قَائِمٌ كَأَنَّهُ مَذْبُوحٌ، لَهُ سَبْعَةُ قُرُونٍ وَسَبْعُ أَعْيُنٍ، هِيَ سَبْعَةُ أَرْوَاحِ اللهِ الْمُرْسَلَةُ إِلَى كُلِّ الأَرْضِ.
