وَذَهَبَ عَنْكِ جَنَى شَهْوَةِ نَفْسِكِ، وَذَهَبَ عَنْكِ كُلُّ مَا هُوَ مُشْحِمٌ وَبَهِيٌّ، وَلَنْ تَجِدِيهِ فِي مَا بَعْدُ.

وَهذِهِ الأُمُورُ حَدَثَتْ مِثَالاً لَنَا، حَتَّى لاَ نَكُونَ نَحْنُ مُشْتَهِينَ شُرُورًا كَمَا اشْتَهَى أُولئِكَ.
فَقَالَ لَهُ اللهُ: يَاغَبِيُّ! هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ تُطْلَبُ نَفْسُكَ مِنْكَ، فَهذِهِ الَّتِي أَعْدَدْتَهَا لِمَنْ تَكُونُ؟
تَشْتَهُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ. تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَحْسِدُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَقْدِرُونَ أَنْ تَنَالُوا. تُخَاصِمُونَ وَتُحَارِبُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ، لأَنَّكُمْ لاَ تَطْلُبُونَ.
فَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: يَا ابْنِي، اذْكُرْ أَنَّكَ اسْتَوْفَيْتَ خَيْرَاتِكَ فِي حَيَاتِكَ، وَكَذلِكَ لِعَازَرُ الْبَلاَيَا. وَالآنَ هُوَ يَتَعَزَّى وَأَنْتَ تَتَعَذَّبُ.
وَجَرَّبُوا اللهَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ، بِسُؤَالِهِمْ طَعَامًا لِشَهْوَتِهِمْ.
بَلِ اشْتَهَوْا شَهْوَةً فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ، وَجَرَّبُوا اللهَ فِي الْقَفْرِ.
وَاللَّفِيفُ الَّذِي فِي وَسَطِهِمِ اشْتَهَى شَهْوَةً. فَعَادَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ أَيْضًا وَبَكَوْا وَقَالُوا: «مَنْ يُطْعِمُنَا لَحْمًا؟
فَدُعِيَ اسْمُ ذلِكَ الْمَوْضِعِ «قَبَرُوتَ هَتَّأَوَةَ» لأَنَّهُمْ هُنَاكَ دَفَنُوا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَهَوْا.
