Honour all men--according to whatever honor is due in each case. Equals have a respect due to them. Christ has dignified our humanity by assuming it; therefore we should not dishonor, but be considerate to and honor our common humanity, even in the very humblest. The first "honor" is in the Greek aorist imperative, implying, "In every case render promptly every man's due" [ALFORD]. The second is in the present tense, implying, Habitually and continually honor the king. Thus the first is the general precept; the three following are its three great divisions. Love--present: Habitually love with the special and congenial affection that you ought to feel to brethren, besides the general love to all men. Fear God . . . the king--The king is to be honored; but God alone, in the highest sense, feared.
افتح المصدر ↗The general exhortation to holiness is continued, and enforced by several reasons taken from the foundation on which Christians are built, Jesus Christ, and from their spiritual blessings and privileges in him. The means of obtaining it, the word of God, is recommended, and all contrary qualities are condemned (Pe1 2:1-12). Particular directions are given how subjects ought to obey the magistrates, and servants their masters, patiently suffering in well doing, in imitation of Christ (Pe1 2:13 to the end).

وَادِّينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا بِالْمَحَبَّةِ الأَخَوِيَّةِ، مُقَدِّمِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا فِي الْكَرَامَةِ.
يَا ابْنِي، اخْشَ الرَّبَّ وَالْمَلِكَ. لاَ تُخَالِطِ الْمُتَقَلِّبِينَ،
فَأَعْطُوا الْجَمِيعَ حُقُوقَهُمُ: الْجِزْيَةَ لِمَنْ لَهُ الْجِزْيَةُ. الْجِبَايَةَ لِمَنْ لَهُ الْجِبَايَةُ. وَالْخَوْفَ لِمَنْ لَهُ الْخَوْفُ. وَالإِكْرَامَ لِمَنْ لَهُ الإِكْرَامُ.
كَذلِكَ أَيُّهَا الأَحْدَاثُ، اخْضَعُوا لِلشُّيُوخِ، وَكُونُوا جَمِيعًا خَاضِعِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ، وَتَسَرْبَلُوا بِالتَّوَاضُعِ، لأَنَّ:«اللهَ يُقَاوِمُ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ، وَأَمَّا الْمُتَوَاضِعُونَ فَيُعْطِيهِمْ نِعْمَةً».
لاَ شَيْئًا بِتَحَزُّبٍ أَوْ بِعُجْبٍ، بَلْ بِتَوَاضُعٍ، حَاسِبِينَ بَعْضُكُمُ الْبَعْضَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ.
لِتَثْبُتِ الْمَحَبَّةُ الأَخَوِيَّةُ.
طَهِّرُوا نُفُوسَكُمْ فِي طَاعَةِ الْحَقِّ بِالرُّوحِ لِلْمَحَبَّةِ الأَخَوِيَّةِ الْعَدِيمَةِ الرِّيَاءِ، فَأَحِبُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا مِنْ قَلْبٍ طَاهِرٍ بِشِدَّةٍ.
أَكْرِمْ أَبَاكَ وَأُمَّكَ لِكَيْ تَطُولَ أَيَّامُكَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي يُعْطِيكَ الرَّبُّ إِلهُكَ.
مِنْ أَمَامِ الأَشْيَبِ تَقُومُ وَتَحْتَرِمُ وَجْهَ الشَّيْخِ، وَتَخْشَى إِلهَكَ. أَنَا الرَّبُّ.
فَإِذْ لَنَا هذِهِ الْمَوَاعِيدُ أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاءُ لِنُطَهِّرْ ذَوَاتِنَا مِنْ كُلِّ دَنَسِ الْجَسَدِ وَالرُّوحِ، مُكَمِّلِينَ الْقَدَاسَةَ فِي خَوْفِ اللهِ.
