Night and day--(See on Th1 2:9). Night is the season for the saint's holiest meditations and prayers (Ti2 1:3). praying--connected with, "we joy"; we joy while we pray; or else as ALFORD, What thanks can we render to God while we pray? The Greek implies a beseeching request. exceedingly--literally, "more than exceeding abundantly" (compare Eph 3:20). that which is lacking--Even the Thessalonians had points in which they needed improvement [BENGEL], (Luk 17:5). Their doctrinal views as to the nearness of Christ's coming, and as to the state of those who had fallen asleep, and their practice in some points, needed correction (Th1 4:1-9). Paul's method was to begin by commending what was praiseworthy, and then to correct what was amiss; a good pattern to all admonishers of others.
افتح المصدر ↗In this chapter the apostle gives further evidence of his love to the Thessalonians, reminding them of his sending Timothy to them, with the mention of his design therein and his inducements so to do (Th1 3:1-5). He acquaints them also with his great satisfaction at the return of Timothy, with good tidings concerning them (Th1 3:6-10). And concludes with fervent prayer for them (Th1 3:11 to the end).

لأَنَّنَا نَفْرَحُ حِينَمَا نَكُونُ نَحْنُ ضُعَفَاءَ وَأَنْتُمْ تَكُونُونَ أَقْوِيَاءَ. وَهذَا أَيْضًا نَطْلُبُهُ كَمَالَكُمْ.

وَاللهُ نَفْسُهُ أَبُونَا وَرَبُّنَا يَسُوعُ الْمَسِيحُ يَهْدِي طَرِيقَنَا إِلَيْكُمْ.
وَبِهذِهِ الثِّقَةِ كُنْتُ أَشَاءُ أَنْ آتِيَ إِلَيْكُمْ أَوَّلاً، لِتَكُونَ لَكُمْ نِعْمَةٌ ثَانِيَةٌ.
إِنِّي أَشْكُرُ اللهَ الَّذِي أَعْبُدُهُ مِنْ أَجْدَادِي بِضَمِيرٍ طَاهِرٍ، كَمَا أَذْكُرُكَ بِلاَ انْقِطَاعٍ فِي طَلِبَاتِي لَيْلاً وَنَهَارًا،
الأَمْرُ الَّذِي لأَجْلِهِ نُصَلِّي أَيْضًا كُلَّ حِينٍ مِنْ جِهَتِكُمْ: أَنْ يُؤَهِّلَكُمْ إِلهُنَا لِلدَّعْوَةِ، وَيُكَمِّلَ كُلَّ مَسَرَّةِ الصَّلاَحِ وَعَمَلَ الإِيمَانِ بِقُوَّةٍ،
الَّذِي أَسْبَاطُنَا الاثْنَا عَشَرَ يَرْجُونَ نَوَالَهُ، عَابِدِينَ بِالْجَهْدِ لَيْلاً وَنَهَارًا. فَمِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا الرَّجَاءِ أَنَا أُحَاكَمُ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ أَغْرِيبَاسُ.
وَمَعَ هذَا، أَعْدِدْ لِي أَيْضًا مَنْزِلاً، لأَنِّي أَرْجُو أَنَّنِي بِصَلَوَاتِكُمْ سَأُوهَبُ لَكُمْ.
يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَبَفْرَاسُ، الَّذِي هُوَ مِنْكُمْ، عَبْدٌ لِلْمَسِيحِ، مُجَاهِدٌ كُلَّ حِينٍ لأَجْلِكُمْ بِالصَّلَوَاتِ، لِكَيْ تَثْبُتُوا كَامِلِينَ وَمُمْتَلِئِينَ فِي كُلِّ مَشِيئَةِ اللهِ.
