لأَنَّهُ خَادِمُ اللهِ لِلصَّلاَحِ! وَلكِنْ إِنْ فَعَلْتَ الشَّرَّ فَخَفْ، لأَنَّهُ لاَ يَحْمِلُ السَّيْفَ عَبَثًا، إِذْ هُوَ خَادِمُ اللهِ، مُنْتَقِمٌ لِلْغَضَبِ مِنَ الَّذِي يَفْعَلُ الشَّرَّ.

I. A lesson of subjection to lawful authority (Rom 13:1-6). II. A lesson of justice and love to our brethren (Rom 13:7-10). III. A lesson of sobriety and godliness in ourselves (Rom 13:11 to the end).

However, it was also used in secular Greek to refer to a civic official. Whether they know it or not, governing authorities are serving God when they administer justice. • they have the power to punish you (literally they do not bear the sword in vain): The sword might simply be a metaphor for punishment of any kind, but some interpreters believe it suggests that human governments, under God’s authority, have the right to carry out capital punishment.

لاَ تَنْتَقِمُوا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ أَيُّهَا الأَحِبَّاءُ، بَلْ أَعْطُوا مَكَانًا لِلْغَضَبِ، لأَنَّهُ مَكْتُوبٌ:«لِيَ النَّقْمَةُ أَنَا أُجَازِي يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.
وَقَالَ لِلْقُضَاةِ: «انْظُرُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ فَاعِلُونَ، لأَنَّكُمْ لاَ تَقْضُونَ لِلإِنْسَانِ بَلْ لِلرَّبِّ، وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ فِي أَمْرِ الْقَضَاءِ.
غَضَبُ الْمَلِكِ رُسُلُ الْمَوْتِ، وَالإِنْسَانُ الْحَكِيمُ يَسْتَعْطِفُهُ.
رُعْبُ الْمَلِكِ كَزَمْجَرَةِ الأَسَدِ. الَّذِي يُغِيظُهُ يُخْطِئُ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ.
فَإِنَّكُمْ لأَجْلِ هذَا تُوفُونَ الْجِزْيَةَ أَيْضًا، إِذْ هُمْ خُدَّامُ اللهِ مُواظِبُونَ عَلَى ذلِكَ بِعَيْنِهِ.
أَنْ لاَ يَتَطَاوَلَ أَحَدٌ وَيَطْمَعَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ فِي هذَا الأَمْرِ، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ مُنْتَقِمٌ لِهذِهِ كُلِّهَا كَمَا قُلْنَا لَكُمْ قَبْلاً وَشَهِدْنَا.
تَعَلَّمُوا فَعْلَ الْخَيْرِ. اطْلُبُوا الْحَقَّ. انْصِفُوا الْمَظْلُومَ. اقْضُوا لِلْيَتِيمِ. حَامُوا عَنِ الأَرْمَلَةِ.
وَأَجْعَلُ نَقْمَتِي فِي أَدُومَ بِيَدِ شَعْبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَيَفْعَلُونَ بِأَدُومَ كَغَضَبِي وَكَسَخَطِي، فَيَعْرِفُونَ نَقْمَتِي، يَقُولُ السَّيِّدُ الرَّبُّ.
رُؤَسَاؤُهَا فِي وَسْطِهَا كَذِئَابٍ خَاطِفَةٍ خَطْفًا لِسَفْكِ الدَّمِ، لإِهْلاَكِ النُّفُوسِ لاكْتِسَابِ كَسْبٍ.
سَمِنُوا. لَمَعُوا. أَيْضًا تَجَاوَزُوا فِي أُمُورِ الشَّرِّ. لَمْ يَقْضُوا فِي الدَّعْوَى، دَعْوَى الْيَتِيمِ. وَقَدْ نَجَحُوا. وَبِحَقِّ الْمَسَاكِينِ لَمْ يَقْضُوا.
