he fell to the earth--and his companions with him (Act 26:14), who "saw the light" (Act 22:9). and heard a voice saying unto him--"in the Hebrew tongue" (Act 26:14). Saul, Saul--a reduplication full of tenderness [DE WETTE]. Though his name was soon changed into "Paul," we find him, in both his own narratives of the scene, after the lapse of so many years, retaining the original form, as not daring to alter, in the smallest detail, the overpowering words addressed to him. why persecutest thou me?--No language can express the affecting character of this question, addressed from the right hand of the Majesty on high to an infuriated, persecuting mortal. افتح المصدر ↗In this chapter we have, I. The famous story of St. Paul's conversion from being an outrageous persecutor of the gospel of Christ to be an illustrious professor and preacher of it. I. How he was first awakened and wrought upon by an appearance of Christ himself to him as he was going upon an errand of persecution to Damascus: and what a condition he was in while he lay under the power of those convictions and terrors (Act 9:1-9). 2. How he was baptized by Ananias, by immediate directions from heaven (Act 9:10-19). 3. How he immediately commenced doctor, and preached the faith of Christ, and proved what he preached (Act 9:20-22). 4. How he was persecuted, and narrowly escaped with his life (Act 9:23-25). 5. لأَنَّهُ هكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ الْجُنُودِ: بَعْدَ الْمَجْدِ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَى الأُمَمِ الَّذِينَ سَلَبُوكُمْ، لأَنَّهُ مَنْ يَمَسُّكُمْ يَمَسُّ حَدَقَةَ عَيْنِهِ.
لأَنَّهُ كَمَا أَنَّ الْجَسَدَ هُوَ وَاحِدٌ وَلَهُ أَعْضَاءٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، وَكُلُّ أَعْضَاءِ الْجَسَدِ الْوَاحِدِ إِذَا كَانَتْ كَثِيرَةً هِيَ جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ، كَذلِكَ الْمَسِيحُ أَيْضًا.
فَهُوَذَا لُطْفُ اللهِ وَصَرَامَتُهُ: أَمَّا الصَّرَامَةُ فَعَلَى الَّذِينَ سَقَطُوا، وَأَمَّا اللُّطْفُ فَلَكَ، إِنْ ثَبَتَّ فِي اللُّطْفِ، وَإِلاَّ فَأَنْتَ أَيْضًا سَتُقْطَعُ.
فِي كُلِّ ضِيقِهِمْ تَضَايَقَ، وَمَلاَكُ حَضْرَتِهِ خَلَّصَهُمْ. بِمَحَبَّتِهِ وَرَأْفَتِهِ هُوَ فَكَّهُمْ وَرَفَعَهُمْ وَحَمَلَهُمْ كُلَّ الأَيَّامِ الْقَدِيمَةِ.
فَنَادَاهُ مَلاَكُ الرَّبِّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَقَالَ: «إِبْرَاهِيمُ! إِبْرَاهِيمُ!». فَقَالَ: «هأَنَذَا»
فَبَعْدَ مَا تَغَدَّوْا قَالَ يَسُوعُ لِسِمْعَانَ بُطْرُسَ: «يَاسِمْعَانُ بْنَ يُونَا، أَتُحِبُّنِي أَكْثَرَ مِنْ هؤُلاَءِ؟» قَالَ لَهُ:«نَعَمْ يَارَبُّ أَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي أُحِبُّكَ». قَالَ لَهُ: «ارْعَ خِرَافِي».
فَيُجِيبُ الْمَلِكُ وَيَقوُل لَهُمْ: الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: بِمَا أَنَّكُمْ فَعَلْتُمُوهُ بِأَحَدِ إِخْوَتِي هؤُلاَءِ الأَصَاغِرِ، فَبِي فَعَلْتُمْ.
فَنَادَى الرَّبُّ الإِلهُ آدَمَ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «أَيْنَ أَنْتَ؟».
وَقَالَ: «يَا هَاجَرُ جَارِيَةَ سَارَايَ، مِنْ أَيْنَ أَتَيْتِ؟ وَإِلَى أَيْنَ تَذْهَبِينَ؟». فَقَالَتْ: «أَنَا هَارِبَةٌ مِنْ وَجْهِ مَوْلاَتِي سَارَايَ».
فَأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وَقَالَ لَها:«مَرْثَا، مَرْثَا، أَنْتِ تَهْتَمِّينَ وَتَضْطَرِبِينَ لأَجْلِ أُمُورٍ كَثِيرَةٍ،
