فَنَظَرَتْ مَلاَكَيْنِ بِثِيَابٍ بِيضٍ جَالِسَيْنِ وَاحِدًا عِنْدَ الرَّأْسِ وَالآخَرَ عِنْدَ الرِّجْلَيْنِ، حَيْثُ كَانَ جَسَدُ يَسُوعَ مَوْضُوعًا.
وَلَمَّا دَخَلْنَ الْقَبْرَ رَأَيْنَ شَابًّا جَالِسًا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ لاَبِسًا حُلَّةً بَيْضَاءَ، فَانْدَهَشْنَ.
فَقُلْتُ لَهُ:«يَا سَيِّدُ، أَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ». فَقَالَ لِي:«هؤُلاَءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ أَتَوْا مِنَ الضِّيقَةِ الْعَظِيمَةِ، وَقَدْ غَسَّلُوا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَبَيَّضُوا ثِيَابَهُمْ فِي دَمِ الْخَرُوفِ
وَتَغَيَّرَتْ هَيْئَتُهُ قُدَّامَهُمْ، وَأَضَاءَ وَجْهُهُ كَالشَّمْسِ، وَصَارَتْ ثِيَابُهُ بَيْضَاءَ كَالنُّورِ.
كُنْتُ أَرَى أَنَّهُ وُضِعَتْ عُرُوشٌ، وَجَلَسَ الْقَدِيمُ الأَيَّامِ. لِبَاسُهُ أَبْيَضُ كَالثَّلْجِ، وَشَعْرُ رَأْسِهِ كَالصُّوفِ النَّقِيِّ، وَعَرْشُهُ لَهِيبُ نَارٍ، وَبَكَرَاتُهُ نَارٌ مُتَّقِدَةٌ.
فَقَالَ كَرْنِيلِيُوسُ: «مُنْذُ أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍ إِلَى هذِهِ السَّاعَةِ كُنْتُ صَائِمًا. وَفِي السَّاعَةِ التَّاسِعَةِ كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِي، وَإِذَا رَجُلٌ قَدْ وَقَفَ أَمَامِي بِلِبَاسٍ لاَمِعٍ
وَكَانَ مَنْظَرُهُ كَالْبَرْقِ، وَلِبَاسُهُ أَبْيَضَ كَالثَّلْجِ.
عِنْدَكَ أَسْمَاءٌ قَلِيلَةٌ فِي سَارْدِسَ لَمْ يُنَجِّسُوا ثِيَابَهُمْ، فَسَيَمْشُونَ مَعِي فِي ثِيَابٍ بِيضٍ لأَنَّهُمْ مُسْتَحِقُّونَ.
فَرَأَى ظَاهِرًا فِي رُؤْيَا نَحْوَ السَّاعَةِ التَّاسِعَةِ مِنَ النَّهَارِ، مَلاَكًا مِنَ اللهِ دَاخِلاً إِلَيْهِ وَقَائِلاً لَهُ:«يَا كَرْنِيلِيُوسُ!».
