وَأَمَّا أَنَّ الْمَوْتَى يَقُومُونَ، فَقَدْ دَلَّ عَلَيْهِ مُوسَى أَيْضًا فِي أَمْرِ الْعُلَّيْقَةِ كَمَا يَقُولُ: اَلرَّبُّ إِلهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِلهُ إِسْحَاقَ وَإِلهُ يَعْقُوبَ.

Jacob: God identified himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob long after these patriarchs had died. Since he was still their God, they must have had a continuing existence after death.

وَأُقِيمُ عَهْدِي بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ، وَبَيْنَ نَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ فِي أَجْيَالِهِمْ، عَهْدًا أَبَدِيًّا، لأَكُونَ إِلهًا لَكَ وَلِنَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ.
وَمِنْ نَفَائِسِ الأَرْضِ وَمِلْئِهَا، وَرِضَى السَّاكِنِ فِي الْعُلَّيْقَةِ. فَلْتَأْتِ عَلَى رَأْسِ يُوسُفَ وَعَلَى قِمَّةِ نَذِيرِ إِخْوَتِهِ.
وَهُوَذَا الرَّبُّ وَاقِفٌ عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: «أَنَا الرَّبُّ إِلهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَبِيكَ وَإِلهُ إِسْحَاقَ. الأَرْضُ الَّتِي أَنْتَ مُضْطَجِعٌ عَلَيْهَا أُعْطِيهَا لَكَ وَلِنَسْلِكَ.
وَقَالَ اللهُ أَيْضًا لِمُوسَى: «هكَذَا تَقُولُ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ: يَهْوَهْ إِلهُ آبَائِكُمْ، إِلهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِلهُ إِسْحَاقَ وَإِلهُ يَعْقُوبَ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكُمْ. هذَا اسْمِي إِلَى الأَبَدِ وَهذَا ذِكْرِي إِلَى دَوْرٍ فَدَوْرٍ.
وَقَالَ يَعْقُوبُ: «يَا إِلهَ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِلهَ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، الرَّبَّ الَّذِي قَالَ لِيَ: ارْجعْ إِلَى أَرْضِكَ وَإِلَى عَشِيرَتِكَ فَأُحْسِنَ إِلَيْكَ.
وَرَجَعْتُ بِسَلاَمٍ إِلَى بَيْتِ أَبِي، يَكُونُ الرَّبُّ لِي إِلهًا،
