said unto them--In Mat 22:29, the reply begins with this important statement:--"Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures," regarding the future state, "nor the power of God," before which a thousand such difficulties vanish (also Mar 12:24).

فَمَدَحَ السَّيِّدُ وَكِيلَ الظُّلْمِ إِذْ بِحِكْمَةٍ فَعَلَ، لأَنَّ أَبْنَاءَ هذَا الدَّهْرِ أَحْكَمُ مِنْ أَبْنَاءِ النُّورِ فِي جِيلِهِمْ.
لِيَكُنِ الزِّوَاجُ مُكَرَّمًا عِنْدَ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ، وَالْمَضْجَعُ غَيْرَ نَجِسٍ. وَأَمَّا الْعَاهِرُونَ وَالزُّنَاةُ فَسَيَدِينُهُمُ اللهُ.
كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ وَيَشْرَبُونَ، وَيُزَوِّجُونَ وَيَتَزَوَّجُونَ، إِلَى الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي فِيهِ دَخَلَ نُوحٌ الْفُلْكَ، وَجَاءَ الطُّوفَانُ وَأَهْلَكَ الْجَمِيعَ.
«مِنْ أَجْلِ هذَا يَتْرُكُ الرَّجُلُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ وَيَلْتَصِقُ بِامْرَأَتِهِ، وَيَكُونُ الاثْنَانِ جَسَدًا وَاحِدًا».
