تأمّل عميق بلغةٍ واضحة على هذه الآية. اقرأ الأصحاح
فَأَجَابُوا يَسُوعَ وَقَالُوا:«لاَ نَعْلَمُ». فَقَالَ لَهُمْ هُوَ أَيْضًا:«وَلاَ أَنَا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ بِأَيِّ سُلْطَانٍ أَفْعَلُ هذَا.

And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell--Evidently their difficulty was, how to answer, so as neither to shake their determination to reject the claims of Christ nor damage their reputation with the people. For the truth itself they cared nothing whatever. Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things--What composure and dignity of wisdom does our Lord here display, as He turns their question upon themselves, and, while revealing His knowledge of their hypocrisy, closes their mouths! Taking advantage of the surprise, silence, and awe produced by this reply, our Lord followed it up immediately by the two following parables. Parable of the Two Sons (Mat 21:28-32).

أَجَابَ الرَّجُلُ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ:«إِنَّ فِي هذَا عَجَبًا! إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ مِنْ أَيْنَ هُوَ، وَقَدْ فَتَحَ عَيْنَيَّ.
وَفِي الصَّبَاحِ: الْيَوْمَ شِتَاءٌ لأَنَّ السَّمَاءَ مُحْمَرَّةٌ بِعُبُوسَةٍ.يَا مُرَاؤُونَ! تَعْرِفُونَ أَنْ تُمَيِّزُوا وَجْهَ السَّمَاءِ، وَأَمَّا عَلاَمَاتُ الأَزْمِنَةِ فَلاَ تَسْتَطِيعُونَ!
غَلِّظْ قَلْبَ هذَا الشَّعْبِ وَثَقِّلْ أُذُنَيْهِ وَاطْمُسْ عَيْنَيْهِ، لِئَلاَّ يُبْصِرَ بِعَيْنَيْهِ وَيَسْمَعَ بِأُذُنَيْهِ وَيَفْهَمَ بِقَلْبِهِ، وَيَرْجعَ فَيُشْفَى».
وَكَمَا لَمْ يَسْتَحْسِنُوا أَنْ يُبْقُوا اللهَ فِي مَعْرِفَتِهِمْ، أَسْلَمَهُمُ اللهُ إِلَى ذِهْنٍ مَرْفُوضٍ لِيَفْعَلُوا مَا لاَ يَلِيقُ.
«لِمَنْ يُعَلِّمُ مَعْرِفَةً، وَلِمَنْ يُفْهِمُ تَعْلِيمًا؟ أَلِلْمَفْطُومِينَ عَنِ اللَّبَنِ، لِلْمَفْصُولِينَ عَنِ الثُّدِيِّ؟
اُتْرُكُوهُمْ. هُمْ عُمْيَانٌ قَادَةُ عُمْيَانٍ. وَإِنْ كَانَ أَعْمَى يَقُودُ أَعْمَى يَسْقُطَانِ كِلاَهُمَا فِي حُفْرَةٍ».
وَلكِنْ إِنْ كَانَ إِنْجِيلُنَا مَكْتُومًا، فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَكْتُومٌ فِي الْهَالِكِينَ،
