فَالْفَرِّيسِيُّونَ لَمَّا نَظَرُوا قَالُوا لَهُ:«هُوَذَا تَلاَمِيذُكَ يَفْعَلُونَ مَا لاَ يَحِلُّ فِعْلُهُ فِي السَّبْتِ!»

But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day--The act itself was expressly permitted (Deu 23:25). But as being "servile work," which was prohibited on the sabbath day, it was regarded as sinful.

«إِنْ رَدَدْتَ عَنِ السَّبْتِ رِجْلَكَ، عَنْ عَمَلِ مَسَرَّتِكَ يَوْمَ قُدْسِي، وَدَعَوْتَ السَّبْتَ لَذَّةً، وَمُقَدَّسَ الرَّبِّ مُكَرَّمًا، وَأَكْرَمْتَهُ عَنْ عَمَلِ طُرُقِكَ وَعَنْ إِيجَادِ مَسَرَّتِكَ وَالتَّكَلُّمِ بِكَلاَمِكَ،
سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ تَعْمَلُ عَمَلَكَ. وَأَمَّا الْيَوْمُ السَّابعُ فَفِيهِ تَسْتَرِيحُ، لِكَيْ يَسْتَرِيحَ ثَوْرُكَ وَحِمَارُكَ، وَيَتَنَفَّسَ ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ وَالْغَرِيبُ.
سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ يُعْمَلُ عَمَلٌ، وَأَمَّا الْيَوْمُ الْسَّابِعُ فَفِيهِ يَكُونُ لَكُمْ سَبْتُ عُطْلَةٍ مُقَدَّسٌ لِلرَّبِّ. كُلُّ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ فِيهِ عَمَلاً يُقْتَلُ.
فَرَجَعْنَ وَأَعْدَدْنَ حَنُوطًا وَأَطْيَابًا. وَفِي السَّبْتِ اسْتَرَحْنَ حَسَبَ الْوَصِيَّةِ.
