God's walking in the midst of Israel does not refer to His accompanying and leading the people on their journeyings, but denotes the walking of God in the midst of His people in Canaan itself, whereby He would continually manifest Himself to the nation as its God and make them a people of possession, bringing them into closer and closer fellowship with Himself, and giving them all the saving blessings of His covenant of grace.
افتح المصدر ↗This chapter is a solemn conclusion of the main body of the levitical law. The precepts that follow in this and the following book either relate to some particular matters or are repetitions and explications of the foregoing institutions. Now this chapter contains a general enforcement of all those laws by promises of reward in case of obedience on the one hand, and threatenings of punishment for disobedience on the other hand, the former to work upon hope, the latter on fear, those two handles of the soul, by which it is taken hold of and managed. Here is, I. A repetition of two or three of the principal of the commandments (Lev 26:1, Lev 26:2). II. An inviting promise of all good things, if they would but keep God's commandments (Lev 26:3-13). III. A terrible threatening of ruining judgments which would be brought upon them if they were refractory and disobedient (v. 14-39). IV. A gracious promise of the return of mercy to those of them that would repent and reform (Lev 26:40, etc.). Deu. 28 is parallel to this.

وَأَيَّةُ مُوَافَقَةٍ لِهَيْكَلِ اللهِ مَعَ الأَوْثَانِ؟ فَإِنَّكُمْ أَنْتُمْ هَيْكَلُ اللهِ الْحَيِّ، كَمَا قَالَ اللهُ:«إِنِّي سَأَسْكُنُ فِيهِمْ وَأَسِيرُ بَيْنَهُمْ، وَأَكُونُ لَهُمْ إِلهًا، وَهُمْ يَكُونُونَ لِي شَعْبًا.
وَتَكُونُونَ لِي شَعْبًا وَأَنَا أَكُونُ لَكُمْ إِلهًا».
بَلْ إِنَّمَا أَوْصَيْتُهُمْ بِهذَا الأَمْرِ قَائِلاً: اسْمَعُوا صَوْتِي فَأَكُونَ لَكُمْ إِلهًا، وَأَنْتُمْ تَكُونُونَ لِي شَعْبًا، وَسِيرُوا فِي كُلِّ الطَّرِيقِ الَّذِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِهِ لِيُحْسَنَ إِلَيْكُمْ.
وَأَتَّخِذُكُمْ لِي شَعْبًا، وَأَكُونُ لَكُمْ إِلهًا. فَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبُّ إِلهُكُمُ الَّذِي يُخْرِجُكُمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَثْقَالِ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ.
وَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَنَا فِي وَسْطِ إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَأَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبُّ إِلهُكُمْ وَلَيْسَ غَيْرِي. وَلاَ يَخْزَى شَعْبِي إِلَى الأَبَدِ.
لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلهَكَ سَائِرٌ فِي وَسَطِ مَحَلَّتِكَ، لِكَيْ يُنْقِذَكَ وَيَدْفَعَ أَعْدَاءَكَ أَمَامَكَ. فَلْتَكُنْ مَحَلَّتُكَ مُقَدَّسَةً، لِئَلاَّ يَرَى فِيكَ قَذَرَ شَيْءٍ فَيَرْجِعَ عَنْكَ.
وَلكِنِ الآنَ يَبْتَغُونَ وَطَنًا أَفْضَلَ، أَيْ سَمَاوِيًّا. لِذلِكَ لاَ يَسْتَحِي بِهِمِ اللهُ أَنْ يُدْعَى إِلهَهُمْ، لأَنَّهُ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ مَدِينَةً.
لاَ تَخَفْ لأَنِّي مَعَكَ. لاَ تَتَلَفَّتْ لأَنِّي إِلهُكَ. قَدْ أَيَّدْتُكَ وَأَعَنْتُكَ وَعَضَدْتُكَ بِيَمِينِ بِرِّي.
وَأُدْخِلُ الثُّلْثَ فِي النَّارِ، وَأَمْحَصُهُمْ كَمَحْصِ الْفِضَّةِ، وَأَمْتَحِنُهُمُ امْتِحَانَ الذَّهَبِ. هُوَ يَدْعُو بِاسْمِي وَأَنَا أُجِيبُهُ. أَقُولُ: هُوَ شَعْبِي، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: الرَّبُّ إِلهِي».
وَأُقِيمُ عَهْدِي بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ، وَبَيْنَ نَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ فِي أَجْيَالِهِمْ، عَهْدًا أَبَدِيًّا، لأَكُونَ إِلهًا لَكَ وَلِنَسْلِكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ.
