Jonah's Preaching in Nineveh - Jon 3:1-10 After Jonah had been punished for his disobedience, and miraculously delivered from death by the mercy of God, he obeyed the renewed command of Jehovah, and preached to the city of Nineveh that it would be destroyed within forty days on account of its sins (Jon 3:1-4). But the Ninevites believed in God, and repented in sackcloth and ashes, to avert the threatened destruction (Jon 3:5-9); and the Lord spared the city (Jon 3:10).
افتح المصدر ↗3:3 a city so large that it took three days to see it all: God desired to save rather than destroy such a vast city, one teeming with human and natural resources (4:11). This desire on God’s part was precisely what Jonah fought against (see 4:2, 10-11). • The city’s circumference was roughly three miles, and it would not have taken three days to walk around it. This description possibly indicates how long it took Jonah to spread his message throughout the city. It might also include the surrounding villages along with the city.

غَطَّى الْجِبَالَ ظِلُّهَا، وَأَغْصَانُهَا أَرْزَ اللهِ.
فَبَكَّرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ صَبَاحًا وَشَدَّ عَلَى حِمَارِهِ، وَأَخَذَ اثْنَيْنِ مِنْ غِلْمَانِهِ مَعَهُ، وَإِسْحَاقَ ابْنَهُ، وَشَقَّقَ حَطَبًا لِمُحْرَقَةٍ، وَقَامَ وَذَهَبَ إِلَى الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ اللهُ.
فَقَالَتْ رَاحِيلُ: «مُصَارَعَاتِ اللهِ قَدْ صَارَعْتُ أُخْتِي وَغَلَبْتُ». فَدَعَتِ اسْمَهُ «نَفْتَالِي».
عَدْلُكَ مِثْلُ جِبَالِ اللهِ، وَأَحْكَامُكَ لُجَّةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ. النَّاسَ وَالْبَهَائِمَ تُخَلِّصُ يَا رَبُّ.
لُوقَا وَحْدَهُ مَعِي. خُذْ مَرْقُسَ وَأَحْضِرْهُ مَعَكَ لأَنَّهُ نَافِعٌ لِي لِلْخِدْمَةِ.
