وَأَرْكَبَهُ فِي مَرْكَبَتِهِ الْثَّانِيَةِ، وَنَادَوْا أَمَامَهُ «ارْكَعُوا». وَجَعَلَهُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ.

He then had him driven in the second chariot, the chariot which followed immediately upon the king's state-carriage; that is to say, he directed a solemn procession to be made through the city, in which they (heralds) cried before him אברך (i.e., bow down), - an Egyptian word, which has been pointed by the Masorites according to the Hiphil or Aphel of בּרך. In Coptic it is abork, projicere, with the signs of the imperative and the second person. Thus he placed him over all Egypt. ונתון inf. absol. as a continuation of the finite verb (vid., Exo 8:11; Lev 25:14, etc.).

The maintenance of Jacob and his family in a time of famine; for the eyes of the Lord run to and fro through the earth, and direct the affairs of the children of men for the benefit of those few whose hearts are upright with him. In order to these, we have here, 1. Pharaoh's dreams (Gen 41:1-8). 2. The recommendation of Joseph to him for an interpreter (Gen 41:9-13). 3. The interpretation of the dreams, and the prediction of seven years of plenty and seven years of famine in Egypt, with the prudent advice given to Pharaoh thereupon (v. 14-36). 4. The preferment of Joseph to a place of the highest power and trust in Egypt (Gen 41:37-45). 5. The accomplishment of Joseph's prediction, and his fidelity to his trust (Gen 41:46, etc.).

فَالآنَ لَيْسَ أَنْتُمْ أَرْسَلْتُمُونِي إِلَى هُنَا بَلِ اللهُ. وَهُوَ قَدْ جَعَلَنِي أَبًا لِفِرْعَوْنَ وَسَيِّدًا لِكُلِّ بَيْتِهِ وَمُتَسَلِّطًا عَلَى كُلِّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ.
وَأَخْبَرُوهُ قَائِلِينَ: «يُوسُفُ حَيٌّ بَعْدُ، وَهُوَ مُتَسَلِّطٌ عَلَى كُلِّ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ». فَجَمَدَ قَلْبُهُ لأَنَّهُ لَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ.
وَأَنْقَذَهُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ ضِيقَاتِهِ، وَأَعْطَاهُ نِعْمَةً وَحِكْمَةً أَمَامَ فِرْعَوْنَ مَلِكِ مِصْرَ، فَأَقَامَهُ مُدَبِّرًا عَلَى مِصْرَ وَعَلَى كُلِّ بَيْتِهِ.
فَقَالَ لَنَا الرَّجُلُ سَيِّدُ الأَرْضِ: بِهذَا أَعْرِفُ أَنَّكُمْ أُمَنَاءُ. دَعُوا أَخًا وَاحِدًا مِنْكُمْ عِنْدِي، وَخُذُوا لِمَجَاعَةِ بُيُوتِكُمْ وَانْطَلِقُوا.
«تَكَلَّمَ مَعَنَا الرَّجُلُ سَيِّدُ الأَرْضِ بِجَفَاءٍ، وَحَسِبَنَا جَوَاسِيسَ الأَرْضِ.
لِكَيْ تَجْثُوَ بِاسْمِ يَسُوعَ كُلُّ رُكْبَةٍ مِمَّنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَمَنْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَمَنْ تَحْتَ الأَرْضِ،
وَكَانَ يُوسُفُ هُوَ الْمُسَلَّطَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَهُوَ الْبَائِعَ لِكُلِّ شَعْبِ الأَرْضِ. فَأَتَى إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ وَسَجَدُوا لَهُ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ.
