## Що це означає

Pin the moment: Pharaoh has just been pounded by the plague of flies, and he's cracking — but only a little. His offer (right before this verse) is: "Fine, sacrifice to your God — but do it *here*, inside Egypt." It sounds generous. It's actually a trap. Moses' answer is the verse you're holding: **no**. Not "maybe," not "let me think about it" — *"Не годиться чинити так"* — it is not fitting, not permissible, to do it that way.

Why not? Because the animals Israel would need to sacrifice to the LORD were, to Egyptian eyes, sacred — bulls, cows, rams, the very creatures wrapped up in Egyptian worship (think of the bull-god Apis, the cow-goddess Hathor). To slit their throats on an altar, in public, "before their eyes," wouldn't read as devotion — it would read as blasphemy against Egypt's gods. Moses isn't worried about logistics. He's telling Pharaoh: what we do to worship our God will be an outrage to your religion, and your people will stone us for it.

Easy to miss: this is the *third* time in this stretch of Exodus that Pharaoh tries to negotiate down the terms of obedience — sacrifice here, don't go far, don't take everyone. Each time, Moses (and behind him, God) refuses the compromise.
